Steve is no stranger to the hot lights and hard boards of the performing stage.  Born into a family of circus performers, he got his first taste of wild applause on the back of a baby elephant at the age of 3.  Never pausing to look back, Steve squandered his childhood developing a reputation as a hard-driving perfectionist in the movies, TV, and the theater.  His elitist disdain for the circus somewhat alienated him from his family, but he managed a reconciliation when, at the age of 9, he hired them all to be his "posse".  After years of touring with all the greats of Broadway, he decided to settle down to a lucrative movie career.  Alas, he never seemed to quite have "it" for the big screen.  Despite critically acclaimed  performances such as the title role in the soft-core classic "Banana Boy", his avant- garde style of acting (haughtily ignoring the camera and his fellow actors), never quite caught on with the audiences.  Fraught with the disappointment of a crumbling career, he spiraled down from the sparkle of stardom to gravel of the alley.  It was at the bottom, living under a bridge in San Francisco that he became reacquainted with "Fernando", an old Spanish circus hand who used to play songs on the guitar for him when he was a baby.  Fernando taught Steve a few chords and when Fernando failed to wake up one morning (apparently suffocating in his sleep when a large portion of his blanket became accidentally lodged in his throat), Steve figured he couldn't let a good guitar go to waste.  He packed up Fernando's guitar and the rest of his own meager belongings and headed back to Kansas City, a place he'd once called home.  After several years of isolation and obsessive practice, Steve decided it was time to rock!  The world has never been the same...
