Chris
Bartusek Chris' beginnings are even more inauspicious than that of the band as a whole. A distant cousin to Abraham Lincoln, he was also born in a log cabin. Hoping for greatness from their child, his parents built a log cabin in the suburb of Detroit where they lived, in a misguided attempt to infuse him with the environmental backdrop that helped shape our 16th president. They made him split rails (though rails were somewhat hard to acquire in the city), read and study by candlelight, and even borrow books only to walk miles to return them. Much to his parents' dismay, Chris showed little interest in law or politics. Early in his childhood he developed a habit of incessantly beating on inanimate objects. This proved to be troublesome when he mistook a very lethargic third grade classmate for a hollow log. It was, however, a providential turn of events. His third grade teacher recognized his need to strike as not some violent reaction from a psychotic animal, but as genuine talent ready to explode from the confines of a conformist, suburban upbringing. Through her gentle, perhaps inappropriate, encouragement, Chris was able to harness this obsession and use it to create the pulsating, throbbing rhythms that power rock & roll. Soon he was in great demand as a drummer and singer in bands of all styles. Critics worldwide concede that rock, country, polka, jazz and Chris' personal favorite, klezmer were all undeniably influenced by his fresh approach to the drums. Fortunately for the music world, he determined rock to be his true calling and set out on the path that led him to this band. Contact Chris direct by E-Mail |
